Los Angeles, Ca – The new look and 6th Annual Boyle Heights Latina Independent Film Extravaganza (BHLIFE) plans on highlighting the work of Latina filmmakers worldwide and encourage young Latinas to become filmmakers. Staged in the beautiful Casa 0101Theatre, the festival will run from March 2, 2012 – March 4, 2012, expecting over 1,000 attendees, industry executives, community leaders and film aficionados from across the US.
Josefina Lopez, the founder of Casa 0101, screenwriter of the award-winning film Real Woman Have Curves, and creator of BHLIFE along with Festival Director Sandra Varona, are proud to relaunch the re-branded festival.
“This will be an inspiring and powerful film festival dedicated to Independent Latina filmmakers,” said Varona. “The festival will unite the voices and visions of Latina filmmakers with International Women’s Day, and the films represent a body of work that acts as a powerful statement for portraying Latinos in a positive and integral force on screen.”
Participants will be able to enjoy over 20 films by Latina filmmakers, attend informative panel discussions, food, galas, artwork and great music. Prizes are awarded at the film festival with the ultimate goal of unifying Latina filmmakers in transforming their image to one that empowers and inspires the arts and community.
