Beginning November 6th through the 13th Santa Monica becomes all about the business of independent motion picture production and distribution. With over 8,000 industry leaders from more than 70 countries globally, the American Film Market converges for eight days of deal-making on films in every stage of development and production, as well as screenings, conferences, networking and parties.
If you are an independent producer and serious about obtaining financing, a, distribution deal, or sell your film in other countries, this is the event you need to be at. AFM is the pivotal destination for independent filmmakers, directors, distributors, financiers, industry executives, producers, talent, writers, the international media and all those who provide services to the worldwide motion picture industry.
This year the 2013 American Film Market will screen 402 films, including 321 Market Premieres and 75 World Premieres, from 51 countries and in 30 languages. With the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel serving as the home base, all of Santa Monica is the American Film Market playground. In addition to the screenings this year AFM is introducing the AFM Producers Forum a new program for experienced producers. The Forum will include 16 educational sessions with experts and global thought leaders discussing a wide range of topics that may include co-productions in China and India, working with sales agents, production incentives, and working with U.S. guilds. Each day’s sessions will be followed by a privately hosted networking reception.
Also confirmed is this year’s AFM Conference Series, which will run from Friday, November 8 through Tuesday, November 12. Conference topics include: Finance, Pitch, Production, Marketing and Distribution. Sessions will focus on crowd-funding, crowd-sourcing audiences, film festivals, video on demand and more.
AFM also announces that JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) and UniJapan are creating a 2,000 square foot Japan Pavilion and, after a three-year absence, Unifrance will return to the AFM. Among new exhibitors, Panorama Media and Relativity Media will participate in the American Film Market for the first time.
This year also marks the major participation of over one hundred distributors, producers and executives from more than fifty companies across all disciplines of the film industry from Mainland China alone.
