In 2006, Juan Quintero, his brother was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and given 3 years to live. The disease has rapidly left him immobile shattering many of his dreams, but his condition also pressured him to leave something lasting…in this case, a colorful 34 X 14 foot mural on a wall of his alma mater, Sacred Heart Elementary School..

Quintero is currently raising fund to complete the documentary entitled Sacred Journey, which chronicles his brother’s fight against this incurable disease. The audience will see already shot footage, documenting the rapid paralysis of a vibrant beautiful soul. Filled with sad, uplifting and even hilarious moments, the film documents the making of the mural, the community that volunteered to make it happen, and how family and friends deal with the deterioration of a dear friend.
